Bourbon BA Thrilla in Bluenilla was placed into a freshly emptied Weller OWA barrel in 2019.  It emerged from its slumber a few weeks short of two full trips around the sun.  Making it among the longest aged meads we’ve offered.  
The result?  The aromas of blueberry got amped up noticeably.  Flavors of blueberry front and center.  The vanilla morphed into a more creamy presentation with that woody vanilla note you get in a nice bourbon.  Rock solid and definitely worth the wait.  Unfortunately, with the extended aging the impact of evaporation and the Angel’s Share is evident here.  In terms of actual bottles produced this is our smallest yield from a barrel ever.  On the bright side; the mead soaked that bourbon in and is 2% higher in ABV than when it entered the barrel.
